How Much Does a Business Coach Cost in the UK? An Honest Answer (With My Prices)
Oct 30, 2026The short answer: in the UK, one-to-one business coaching usually costs somewhere between £100 and £500 an hour, and monthly support tends to run from around £200 to £1,500 a month. Longer hands-on programmes and VIP days cost more. My own prices start at £197 for a one-off Power Hour and £199 a month for ongoing support, and they're all listed below.
Now for the longer, more honest answer.
If you're reading this, I'm guessing you've had the thought more than once. Usually on a Sunday night. I can't keep doing it all on my own. But can I actually justify spending money on a coach right now?
I get it. When money feels tight, paying someone to help you with the business can feel like the last thing you should be spending on. So let's talk about it properly. No vague "get in touch for pricing". No hiding the numbers on page nine.
Why business coaching prices are all over the place
You'll find coaches charging £50 a session and coaches charging thousands a month. That's not because one lot are robbing you and the other lot are a bargain. The price usually comes down to five things:
- Experience. Have they actually run a business, led a team, sat with hundreds of owners? Or did they qualify last spring?
- How hands-on they are. Some coaches ask you good questions and leave you to it. Others get into your numbers, your pricing, your team and the email you've been avoiding for three weeks.
- Access between sessions. A monthly call is one thing. Being able to message someone on a Tuesday afternoon when it's all kicking off is another.
- One-to-one or group. Group programmes cost less per person because you're sharing the coach.
- Length of commitment. Rolling monthly support costs less up front than a 90-day or 12-month programme.
What you get at each price point
| Type of support | Typical UK cost | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| A single session or "power hour" | £100 to £500 | One decision or problem you need help with now |
| Group coaching or a mastermind | £100 to £800 a month | Owners who want community and ideas, and are fine sharing the coach |
| Monthly 1:1 support | £200 to £1,500 a month | Having someone in your corner while you get on with it |
| A 90-day hands-on programme | £2,000 to £5,000+ | A real reset of how the business runs and how you lead it |
| A VIP or intensive day | £800 to £3,000+ | Getting a plan built in one go instead of over months |
These are rough ranges, not rules. What matters more than the number is what changes in your business because you paid it.
My prices (because I said I'd tell you)
I work with a small number of business owners at a time, from my base in Wimborne, Dorset, and online across the UK. Here's exactly what it costs.
- A Cuppa & a Natter: free. 30 minutes. You tell me what's going on, I tell you the first thing I'd change. No pitch.
- Power Hour: £197. One hour on whatever you need most, with notes and actions sent afterwards. If you go on to book 1:1 coaching or a VIP Day within 14 days, the £197 comes off.
- Your Business Yoda: £199 a month. A 45-minute 1:1 call every month, me on WhatsApp between calls, and clear actions every time. Rolling, cancel any time. That's my founding rate while places last.
- VIP Day: from £997. One full day, just you and me, on the thing that's holding you back. You leave with a plan.
- Owner to Leader (90 days): from £2,997. A deep-dive review of where your business really stands, strategy calls every two weeks, a monthly progress review and WhatsApp support Monday to Friday.
- Leader of Leaders: by application. For growing businesses that need a senior right hand. Think part-time chief operating officer, without the salary.

Is a business coach worth the money?
Here's a bit of simple maths.
Say you've been meaning to put your prices up for months. You've got 20 clients paying £500 a month and you're too nervous to have the conversation. A 10% increase is £1,000 extra a month. Every month. That's one conversation. Your Business Yoda costs £199.
Or say you're still doing jobs a £13-an-hour team member could do, while the work only you can do sits on your list. Getting even five hours a week back is worth far more than most monthly coaching fees.
And then there's the stuff you can't put in a spreadsheet. Taking a proper day off without checking your phone in the loo. Having the conversation you've been avoiding. Stopping the Sunday night dread.
When Dawn came to me, her care business had stalled. She was still doing the hands-on work herself and avoiding the big decisions. We started with her, then built a plan across strategy, marketing, people and money. Her turnover is now up 60% year on year. She's in new premises, has a manager leading the team, works normal hours and has finally had a holiday. A real one.
She didn't buy coaching. She bought her life back, and a business that grows without her doing everything.
When a business coach isn't worth it
I'd rather you didn't waste your money, so here's the honest bit:
- You want someone to do it all for you. A coach helps you think, decide and act. If you won't do the actions, nothing changes.
- You're not ready to hear things you don't want to hear. A good coach won't just nod along.
- The coach has never run anything. Ask what they've actually built, led or fixed.
- There's no clear outcome. If neither of you can say what will be different in 90 days, stop and work that out first.
Questions to ask before you hire any coach
- What have you actually done in business yourself?
- Who do you usually work with, and what kind of results do they get?
- What happens between our sessions if something comes up?
- How long do I have to commit for, and how do I leave?
- What will we work on first?
For what it's worth, my answers: 26 years in business and leadership, 17 of them in franchising, supporting more than 1,000 business owners. I've been a franchisee, worked head office side and run my own businesses, including three franchises I built from scratch. I've also been the burnt-out one crying in the car on the way to work, telling everyone it was the traffic. So I know what it feels like from the inside.
Frequently asked questions
How much does a business coach cost per hour in the UK?
Most one-to-one business coaching in the UK costs between £100 and £500 per hour, depending on the coach's experience and how hands-on they are. My Power Hour is £197.
How much does monthly business coaching cost?
Monthly 1:1 support typically costs between £200 and £1,500 a month in the UK. Your Business Yoda, my monthly support, is £199 a month, rolling.
Is there a business coach in Dorset?
Yes. I'm based in Wimborne and work with business owners across Dorset, including Bournemouth and Poole, as well as online across the UK.
What's the difference between a business coach and a business consultant?
A consultant usually tells you what to do or does it for you. A coach helps you make the decisions and changes yourself so they stick. I do a bit of both: I'll get into your numbers, pricing and team with you, and help you build the confidence to lead it.
Can I try business coaching before committing?
Yes. Book a free Cuppa & a Natter, or try a single Power Hour before signing up to anything longer.
